I wanted to comment on the activities of Fundacion Reunion Argentina regarding the orchid conservation and orchid garden projects. After the orchid garden opened by the Fundacion at the Buenos Aires Botanical Gardens was closed, Fundacion Reunion has found and bought land at the Tigre, the Delta of the Parana river which is right in the city. It is an enourmous amount of beautiful islands with lovely meanders of the tributaries of the Parana river, which form totally independent and secluded sectors in the wild.

The scope is to build another orchid garden there and, additionally, carry out environmental conservation projects as well as building a spiritual retreat.

To these ends, Fundacion Reunion has designed day-trips for locals and tourists which include hikes and flora and fauna watching activities, as well as swimming in the river and just basking in the sun. This is an additional attraction to a very cosmopolitan city, which is usually buzzing with activity. It allows people who live there to retreat in nature and spend a day totally away from the city's swarming liveliness.

The day-trips include transportation by a small yatch, all the activities indicated and a typically Argentinian "asado" with plenty of wine! An "asado" is barbecued meat which the Argentinians are masters of making! The day-trip is a very enjoyable one and the two groups to inaugurate the activity were members of the Swedish Orchid Club! who travelled to Buenos Aires and Misiones last year, where they attended the Annual Regional Flower and Orchid Show in the city of Montecarlo.
